OpenText LoadRunner
The original enterprise load-testing suite. Fifty-plus protocols, decades of use.
What it is
LoadRunner has been the enterprise performance-testing reference for around thirty years, supporting more than fifty protocols from HTTP to SAP, Citrix, RTE terminal emulation and proprietary middleware. It comes in Professional, Enterprise and Cloud editions with distributed controllers and deep analysis tooling.
Best for
Where it is strong
- The broadest protocol coverage available anywhere.
- Extremely mature analysis and correlation tooling.
- Accepted by enterprise architecture and audit functions without argument.
Where it falls short
- Very expensive, and the protocol-bundle licensing model is hard to predict.
- Dated tooling and a steep learning curve; specialists are a distinct job role.
- Poor fit for continuous, developer-run performance testing.
