What it is
Selenium Grid distributes WebDriver sessions across a hub and a set of nodes, which you host yourself — commonly as containers on Kubernetes. Combined with images such as Selenoid or Moon it gives large teams a private, unlimited-parallelism grid at infrastructure cost rather than per-session pricing.
Best for
Where it is strong
- No per-session licensing — parallelism is limited only by your compute budget.
- Runs inside your network, so private environments and data never leave.
- Fully under your control, including browser versions.
Where it falls short
- You own the operations: scaling, browser image updates, flaky node debugging.
- No real iOS or Android devices, and no Safari without macOS hosts.
- No built-in video, analytics or dashboards without extra tooling.
