• Enormous coverage for almost no authoring effort — the schema is the test suite.
• Reliably finds unhandled server errors and schema violations that manual tests miss.
• Failures come with a minimal reproducing case.

• Catches breaking API changes at build time instead of in a shared staging environment.
• The can-i-deploy check is a genuinely good answer to microservice release coordination.
• Broad language support, so polyglot estates can adopt it uniformly.

• Only as good as your schema; a vague or inaccurate spec produces noise.
• Tests conformance, not business correctness — it cannot know a discount was miscalculated.
• Generated failures can be tedious to triage at first.

• Requires organisational buy-in from both consumer and provider teams; unilateral adoption achieves little.
• Real conceptual learning curve — most failed adoptions are misunderstandings, not tooling problems.
