Strengths

  • No licence cost at any user count.
  • Full data control, which matters for defence, public sector and regulated work.
  • Very stable and well understood.
  • Extremely low friction — one click produces a report developers can act on.
  • Genuinely useful free tier.
  • Automatic repro steps and console capture cut triage dramatically.

Limitations

  • Dated interface that new team members find unpleasant.
  • Plugin quality varies and upgrades frequently break them.
  • You own hosting, backups, security patching and upgrades.
  • Browser extension per reporter, so it does not work for anonymous end users.
  • Chrome-centric.
  • Not a tracker — you still need somewhere for the issue to live.

Best for

Organisations that must self-host and cannot spend on licences.

Product and engineering teams who want internal bug reports to arrive complete.
