Crazy Egg vs LogRocket

Feature checklists rarely decide anything. What decides it is the pricing metric, who has to write the tests, and which limitation you can live with.

Entry price

From $29 per month (annual billing, 5k pageviews)

Trial only

From $176 per month (Core, around 25k sessions)

What drives the bill

The metric that actually scales your invoice.

Tracked pageviews are the meter, and the entry plan's 5,000 a month is small enough that a modest marketing site outgrows it. Recording and heatmap-report counts are separate caps on the same plan.

Priced on the sessions you capture — analytics, logs and errors are unlimited. Plans are Core, Pro and Enterprise, and Pro is included free above 100k sessions a month.

Free tier

Free trial on every plan; no permanently free tier.

14-day trial with full features; there is no permanently free plan.

Adoption

Established

Crazy Egg · since 2006

Widely used

LogRocket · since 2016

Strengths

  • Heatmaps, recordings, surveys and A/B testing in one subscription rather than three.
  • The A/B editor is usable by a marketer without an engineer, which is the whole point of buying it.
  • Twenty years of the same product, which is unusual reassurance in this category.
  • The technical context makes a support ticket directly actionable by a developer.
  • Error tracking and replay in one tool can replace a separate error monitor.
  • State-management integration is unmatched for React and Redux applications.

Limitations

  • Pageview-metered, and pageviews are the thing you least control — a good week of traffic is an overage.
  • Session replay is shallower than FullStory or LogRocket: no console, no network, no error correlation.
  • Web only. There is no mobile SDK.
  • Session pricing escalates on high-traffic consumer sites, and there is no free tier to grow into — only a 14-day trial.
  • Recording network payloads requires careful configuration to avoid capturing secrets.
  • Less suited to marketing and conversion analysis than a dedicated experience-analytics tool.

Best for

Marketing teams that want to see behaviour and act on it in one tool, without an engineer in the loop.

Engineering teams that want to debug production issues from a recording.
